LHSD News:
KiDanCo Spring Season – May 23 & 24
KiDanCo Spring Season 2026 features a compelling program of original works by Artistic Director Leica Hardy alongside KiDanCo alumnae Michelle Lehman, Mackenzie Tomlin, and Anastasia Wiebe. The program also features a collaborative work by company members Alice Gunn, Olivia Holmes and Valeriia Shevchenko.
Performed by KiDanCo–our resident pre-professional company–this mixed repertoire highlights artistic growth, collaboration, and performance excellence. Rooted in a mission to prepare dancers for advanced study and professional careers, the season offers a powerful glimpse into the next generation of artists.

KiDanCo Studio Sightings – Thank You
Thank you to everyone who joined us on April 25 for Studio Sightings. Your engagement and thoughtful questions created a meaningful exchange and gave audiences a deeper look into the creative process. Head to our Studio Sightings recap post to see more images from the event.
Student Spotlight – Charis Greeley Performing May 8 in A Midsummer Night’s Dream
We’re proud to share that Ballet 8 student and KiDanCo company member, Charis Greeley, will perform as a Local Participant in Ballet Jörgen’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream on Wednesday, May 8, at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium.
Classes on Mother’s Day – May 10
We will be running classes as usual on Mother’s Day.
Victoria Day Weekend Classes – May 15-18
Classes will run as usual over Victoria Day weekend.
Spring Class Viewing Days – May 19-25
Families and friends are invited to observe classes and see dancers’ progress, including rehearsal work for their showcase pieces from May 19-25.
Leica’s Classes on Saturday, May 23
Due to the KiDanCo Spring Season, Leica is unable to teach on Saturday, May 23. Please note the following schedule adjustments:
- Ballet 3 – Taught by Michelle.
- Ballet Intermediate & Pointe – Cancelled due to KiDanCo performance. Please contact the office to arrange a replacement class if needed.
LHSD Student Showcase 2026 – June 13
Save the date! Our annual showcase takes place Saturday, June 13th, 3:00 PM at the Alderney Landing Theatre.
- Morning dress rehearsal begins ~9:00 AM
- Costumes are currently being fitted in classes
- Costume rental invoices and information packages will be sent soon
- Tickets will be available via the Alderney Landing box office later this month
Ballet Exam Certificates Update
Thank you for your patience. Certificates typically arrive within six to eight weeks; however, we are still awaiting confirmation from the Society. We will notify families as they arrive and distribute them in class.
KiDanCo Fundraising Updates
Thank you for your continued support–every contribution helps create new opportunities for our dancers.
- Coffee Fundraiser: Orders have been placed with Java Blend. Sellers will coordinate delivery when the product arrives.
- Recycle for KiDanCo: Ongoing–return bottles and cans to support the company (Visit here for the recycling depot addresses.)
- LHSD T-Shirts: Limited quantities are available (ladies S & M). Contact the office to purchase.
Audition for Nutcracker 2026 – June 15 & 16
Auditions for our 34th season of The Nutcracker will take place June 15 & 16 at Halifax Dance. This production returns to the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium this December.
