This post contains important information for Student Showcase 2025. If you have any questions over the next few days, please don’t hesitate to contact the office before June 9. Please make sure that you know the name/level of the class or classes your child is taking.
Ticket Purchase:
- Alderney Landing Box Office: Mon.-Fri. 10:30 AM-4:30 PM. Phone 902-461-8401.
- Tixr.com
- The front row is for those with mobility issues. Phone the box office to purchase those seats.
Ticket Prices:
- Adult & Senior $25.00/Child & Student $20.00.
- The above prices include Tixr service charges and taxes.
Costume Rental Fees & Costume Distribution:
- Note that costume rental fees are due Wednesday, June 3. Please consult your chart of rental fees email for the amount due.
- Costumes will be taken to the theatre by LHSD staff. Costumes must be left at the theatre after the performance is completed.
Theatre Location & Entry Access (Saturday, June 14):
- Location – Alderney Landing Theatre on the Dartmouth waterfront.
- Dress Rehearsal Entry – Via external spiral staircase beside the railroad tracks at the back of the parking roundabout. Follow the signage to the dressing room hallway.
- Performance Entry – Via the external spiral staircase, the ground level harbour side internal stairway, or the elevator located between the back of the farmers’ market area and the ferry terminal.
Dress Rehearsal Instructions:
- Only one parent should accompany students to dress rehearsals.
- Arrive backstage on time (see times on chart below) in your class uniform with your hair dressed.
- The dressing room hallway is under the rotunda stairway on the harbour side.
- Pick up your costumes from the first dressing room.
- Find your assigned dressing room. Names will be posted beside all the dressing room doors.
- Wait for your rehearsal time in the audience.

Dress Rehearsal Order – Saturday, June 13
Performance Instructions:
- Report to your assigned dressing room at 2:00 PM with makeup and your hair dressed for your first piece.
- Please bring the following personal items: dance shoes, hairbrush/comb, extra hair elastics, clips/hairpins, hairspray and small safety pins as needed.
- All classes will return to the dressing room area after their piece is performed and remain there for the duration of the performance.
- Parents will not be allowed backstage during the performance or at intermission without prior arrangement with the office.
Make-up, Hair & Costumes:
- Please make sure that your personal clothing items and shoes for the performance are in good repair.
- No jewellery, nail polish, and/or accessories of any other kind will be permitted on stage.
- Buns are required for ballet classes.
- Hair styles for other classes will be discussed during class times.
- Children are welcome to wear minimal makeup if they choose. Older students should wear light makeup.
Video & Still Cameras:
- Video or still cameras are welcome at the dress rehearsal. No flashes please.
- Please no video or still cameras during the performance.
Food & Drink:
- No food or drink in the auditorium or backstage areas other than water bottles.

Picking Up Your Child from Backstage at Intermission:
- If you need to pick up your child from backstage at intermission, please arrange this with the office by June 9 so we can inform the supervising staff.
- We will not allow parents backstage during the performance or at intermission.
- Please stay for Act 2, even if your child only performs in Act 1. All of our students deserve a full audience.
- If your child only performs in Act 1, parents may purchase a ticket for their child to watch Act 2.
