LHSD News:
KiDanCo Spring Season Rehearsals Have Started!
On January 16, KidanCo began rehearsals for its season of contemporary repertoire. Company members rehearse every weekend on Friday evenings and Saturday late afternoons. This year’s senior company members are Alice Gunn, Olivia Holmes and Valeriia Shevchenko. Junior members include Fiona Foot, Lauren Foot, Charis Greeley, Eva Holmes and Kiera MacDonald. The apprentices are Elyse Crober, Ivanka Holmes and Phoenix Huszagh.
Anastasia Wiebe is currently developing a new work in three parts for the full company. Leica Hardy is restaging Legacy, a work last performed by the company in 2014, to music by Handel. This season’s repertoire will also include Lost No More, created last spring by the senior company members. The piece was the closing work in Recital 2025. We will announce additional repertoire in the coming weeks.
You will be able to see the company perform in April in Studio Sightings, the company’s International Dance Week event, and in our May Spring Season at the Lighthouse Arts Centre.
Ballet Exam Preparation
We are now preparing for our March 13 & 14 ballet exams with the Society of Classical Ballet–Vaganova Method. The preliminary information memo and the chart of fees have been sent to all exam candidates. If you did not receive a copy, contact the office as soon as possible. All exam-related dates are in the list of Important Dates in the bottom section of this post.
Anastasia Wiebe & Lydia Zimmer Launch the Atlantic Dance Intensive
LHSD Instructor Anastasia Wiebe and choreographer Lydia Zimmer recently launched The Atlantic Dance Intensive. The duo will be offering full-day contemporary and creative intensives on select weekends throughout the province. For more information about their offerings, head to Instagram.
Current intensive dates and locations include:
- Feb. 7 & 8: Sydney
- Feb. 15 & 15: Halifax
Heritage Day – Feb. 16
There are no scheduled classes on Heritage Day this year.
Winter Term Class Viewing Days – Feb. 22-28
Class Viewing Days will take place from February 22 to 28 this term. Parents and siblings are invited to watch classes that week. Ballet classes will be rehearsing their examination material. It’s a wonderful way for you to gain some insight into the exam process for our students.

Now that we are in the Winter months, please make yourself familiar with the storm cancellation policy. It can be found on the website’s Policies page. Closure notices are emailed to all students. That information may also be found on social media and as the featured post in the News & Events section at the bottom of this website’s home page.

- 21: Exam fees due
- 22-28: Winter Class Viewing Days
- 23: Exam fees to the Society of Classical Ballet. No refunds after this date.
