LHSD News:

The Nutcracker Wrap-Up

I want to extend a big shoutout to the ten LHSD students who performed in The Nutcracker with Symphony Nova Scotia this year. Our sold-out performances were a resounding success! Congratulations to Naomi Chaulk, Elyse Crober, Fiona Foot, Lauren Foot, Charis Greeley, Alice Gunn, Eva Holmes, Ivanka Holmes, Olivia Holmes, and Valeriia Shevchenko. Also, congratulations to former LHSD instructor and alumna, Rebecca Wolfe, who appeared as Lotte Drosselmeyer and Mother Ginger.

Leica Hardy Featured in an Article in The Signal

It was an honour and a pleasure to be the subject of an article by King’s Journalism student, Marielle Godfrey. Marielle interviewed me several times throughout the late Fall and observed Nutcracker rehearsals. The article is titled The Woman Who Makes The Magic Happen, and was published in The Signal on December 18, 2025. I have shared a copy of the article here.

Parent Participation & Holiday Celebration Days

This year’s Parent Participation & Holiday Celebration Days were held on December 20 & 21. The students always look forward to sharing class with their parents. Our two Level Three dads wholeheartedly embraced the event and proudly donned tutus for class!

A joyful ballet class featuring young dancers in leotards and tights posing gracefully in front of smiling adults wearing casual clothes and tutus. The group stands in a bright dance studio with large windows, showcasing teamwork, fun, and the joy of dance education.

Storm Policy

Please make yourself familiar with the storm cancellation policy now that we are in the Winter months. The policy can be found on the Policies webpage.

Winter Term Fees Due

Winter term invoices were sent to everyone in December and are due on January 4. Any amounts due after that date will be subject to late fees. You can find the Late Fee Policy on the Registration & Fees webpage. Thank you to those who have already paid.

Ballet Exam Preparation

We are now preparing for our March 13 & 14 ballet exams with the Society of Classical Ballet–Vaganova Method. We will send out further information in the coming weeks. If you or your child intends to take their exam, please encourage regular class attendance. This is an important part of reinforcing information, creating strong technical habits and fostering student confidence.
