Welcome back to classes! I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful summer. As classes begin, Anastasia, Michelle and I are looking forward to meeting our new students and reconnecting with returning ones. Below you’ll find a summary of recent news and key updates for September.

This Important Dates / DancEmail communicaiton will always be emailed directly to registered students each month. You will also be able to find a hard copy on the main hallway bulletin board.
Fall Class Fees – Due by First Class of Term
If you have not yet paid your fall term fees in full, don’t forget that they are due the date of your first class of the term. After that date they are subject to late fees. Late payment terms can be foundon the Registration & Fees page of the website. You will find the infomraiton in the bottom drop-down section.
Registration Forms
Thanks to everyone who has sumitted one of the new online registration forms. If you hafve not done one for this year, please try to complete it before your first class. These forms keep us up to date with your latest contact information and medical alterts.
2025/26 Teaching Assistants
In August I put out a call for teaching assistants. The following senior Intensive & Pre-Professional Training Program students will be assisting in the following classes this year:
- Lauren Foot – KiDance, Ballet Primary
- Olivia Holmes – Ballet Primary, Ballet 3
- Eva Holmes – demonstrator as needed
- Ivanka Holmes – demonstrator as needed
- Daria Kovalenko – various classes on rotating basis
- Kiera MacDonald – Ballet 1, Ballet 4
- Valeriia Shevchenko – Modern D, demonstrator as needed

Sept. 3rd – Launch Date for Words To Dance By Blog
Words to Dance By: Advanced Insights Into Dane Technique and Teaching is poised and ready to launch. The blog is for students, parents and teachers looking for insights into the art of dance, the art of teaching dance and the art of learning to dance.
The first topic will discuss the concept of form and function in dance, and will be revealed over the month of September in a series of three short posts. Is dance about leanring steps, or is it about learning physical principles?

Sept. 5th – Nutcracker Season 33 Rehearsals Start
Rehearsals for season 33 of The Nutcracker start this coming Friday, Sept. 5th! I am very proud of this year’s students who will perform with Symphony Nova Scotia in the production. Performing daner roles are: Naomi Chaulk, Charis Greeley, Alice Gunn, Olivia Holmes, and Valeriia Shevchenko. Elyse Crober, Fiona Foot, Lauren Foot, Eva Holmes and Ivanka Holmes will be performing children’s roles. LHSD alumna and former instructor, Rebecca Wolfe, returns for her third season as Lotte Drosselmeyer and Mother Ginger. Sept. 9 – Rebecca Wolfe Subbing For Michelle
Rebecca Wolfe will be subbing for Michelle on Tuesday, Sept. 9th. Michelle is sorry that she won’t be able to teach the first night of Tuesday classes, but she is attending a health and wellness conference to promote her site Think Self-Management.
Sept. 30 – Truth & Reconciliation Day
There are no scheduled classes on Truth & Reconciliation day this year.
