The Teaching Assistant Program at the Leica Hardy School of Dance offers Senior ITP and PPT students the opportunity to develop leadership skills, gain hands-on teaching experience, and deepen their understanding of dance pedagogy.

Grow as a leader. Inspire the next generation. Learn the art of teaching.

What Teaching Assistants Do

Teaching Assistants are an important part of our studio community. Throughout the academic year, they:

  • Act as in-class demonstrators for younger students
  • Assist with classroom organization and smooth class flow
  • Support instructors in creating a positive, focused learning environment

By working closely with and observing experienced teachers, TAs gain valuable insights into both the technical and artistic aspects of dance education.

Who Can Apply

The program is open to Senior ITP or PPT students who have:

  • Demonstrated serious commitment to their dance studies
  • A friendly, professional, and encouraging approach with younger dancers
  • An interest in leadership and teaching

Each successful applicant will be paired with an instructor and class that best suits their skills and personality.

Pathway to Teaching Certification

For older students who have passed their Elementary Dancer examination and are considering teaching as a career, the program offers an advanced pathway. Under the mentorship of Leica Hardy, these students can work toward fulfilling the requirements for the Student Teacher-In-Training examination with the Society of Classical Ballet–Vaganova Method.

Why Join?

  • Gain real-world leadership experience in the dance studio
  • Build confidence and communication skills
  • Learn effective teaching strategies from experienced instructors
  • Contribute to the growth of younger dancers
